Alex is one of the co-founders of DRAKON.
Most recently he worked as an IEDD consultant for UNMAS in Mali, West Africa. Previously he served for 25 years in the British Army, initially as a soldier working within the field of mechanical engineering and latterly as a Commissioned Officer assigned to EOD operations.
From 2015 to 2016 Alex operated in Mali, West Africa for the UNMAS EOD/IEDD mentorship program. Initially as a team member and later as a Team Leader, he conducted numerous deployed operations in support of the MINUSMA mission, as well providing an advisory capacity for operational planning with senior force personnel, to ensure explosive threat mitigation and ultimately, mission success.
Prior to his departure from the military, Alex’s final assignment was that of Senior EOD Advisor to the Afghan MoI, enabling the Afghan National Police (ANP) to build and improve its EOD capability.
In addition, his role as an EOD Troop Commander saw the planning and provision of EOD support to the 2012 Olympics in support of, and in direct liaison with, the British Civil Police.
During his career as a soldier, highlights included the management of the Army’s 2nd line ECM repair facility in IRAQ in 2007 and the project management of a divisional communications ‘digitisation’ program in 2003.

International Operations Manager
Most recently Imre worked in Mali, West Africa as a qualified QA/OPS (UN) Officer and substitute Regional Area Coordinator, located in Kidal, Mali.
Imre is a Former Hungarian Master EOD Operator and Instructor with extensive expertise and experience in the full range of integrated clearance techniques, including manual, mechanical and canine. During his service he attained the highest level of military EOD and police IEDD certification. As well as MACP operations in Hungary, he also deployed as Chief of EOD/IEDD Operations in Baghlan Province, Afghanistan, assuming responsibility of all explosive operations within the province including operational control of all deployed EOD/IEDD teams. During this time, he worked closely with the United Nations and International Security Assistance Force Regional Command-North Headquarters (ISAF RC-North HQ).
Away from operations, Imre was selected as the first IEDD instructor to train the new generation of military IEDD Operators for the HDF, developing advanced procedures and remote and manual neutralization techniques, which were subsequently passed on to future generations of EOD/IEDD operators through courses in Hungary, Afghanistan, Germany and Czech Republic.
On completion of military service, Imre returned to Afghanistan as a civilian to deliver basic, advanced and sustainment EOD/IEDD/CIED training to Afghan National Security Forces. This contract was followed by a further deployment to Mali, West Africa where he worked as a civilian EOD/IEDD mentor delivering basic, advanced and continuation EOD/IEDD training to MINUSMA Troops, in accordance with UNMAS and STANAGs.
Julian (Jerry) Cooney
Senior IEDD/EOD Consultant
Vasilii is a highly respected and widely recognised Combat Medical Technician and Instructor.
Most recently Vasilii has been operating as a Medical Instructor in Mali where, along with training troops of various nations, he devised a course to teach essential life saving techniques, which has since been adopted by the United Nations.
As a soldier, Vasilii served as combat medic within the French Foreign legion, where he provided daily medical care and administrative services for a regiment of more than 900 legionnaires, as well as operating with distinction in Mali and French Guiana.
He is trained in Pre Hospital Trauma Life Support, Medicine in Remote Areas and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support among numerous other skills.
In a short, but highly decorated military career, Vasilii was awarded the French National Defense Medal and French Citizenship “Francais par le sang versé” by President Francois Hollande along with many other awards, for his courage under fire.
Global Medical Operations Manager
Julian (Jerry) Cooney is one of Britain’s most qualified and experienced EOD and IEDD Operator's and instructors.
Jerry is a highly experienced Ammunition Technician and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Specialist. During his 24 years within HM Forces he completed 11 years on operational duty within 11 EOD Regiment RLC and qualified as a member of the Regimental Directing Staff Panel.
Jerry completed 2 'tours' as an instructor at the Army School of Ammunition, IEDD Wing where he assessed students at all capability levels. His last deployment saw him as the Squadron Training Warrant Officer with 521 EOD Squadron. From 2011 to 2014 Jerry was with the US DoD ‘War Fighter Focus’ contract (Afghanistan) as a Regional Team Leader, Senior Instructor/Mentor responsible for the planning, supervision and assessment of C-IED, EOD, IEDD and Sensitive Site Exploitation training to the Afghan National Security Forces. He has undertaken consultancy in the commercial sector for the UK MOD’s future Remotely Controlled Vehicle (RCV) projects (Project STARTER). He also provided training and consultancy services on various EOD/IEDD equipment to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Special Forces personnel within the Ministry of Interior. Jerry has conducted course design and delivery for EOD RCVs, which include Remotec’s Wheelbarrow Mk 9 and CUTLASS systems. Recently he provided training and operational mentorship for Cambodian and Nepalese EOD/IEDD Teams in support of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA).
